Recognizing youth and their contributions to Oakville

The town received 186 nominations for the inaugural Oakville Community Awards, in partnership with the Oakville Youth Action Committee. Two recipients (one between the ages of 11 and 14 and the other between 15 and 19) will be announced in each of the following awards categories – Emerging Leader Award, Youth Awards Award, Youth Involvement Award and Youth Sports Award – at a special celebration event taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Community and Culture Centre (QEPCCC) on May 4 between 4 and 6 p.m. The event is open to nominees and invited guests. For more details, visit the Youth Awards page.

Unveiling the youth mural

The Youth Centre mural at QEPCCC is complete! Guided by the expertise of artist Yen Linh Thai, the Youth Mural Project invited 12 young local artists to connect, create and collaborate on an indoor public art mural. Drop by the space during youth centre drop-in hours on Tuesdays and Fridays between 5:30 and 8 p.m. to check it out “A Trip Through Town.”
