South Central Public Lands Study

A land use study to guide decisions on several sites in south-central Oakville.

The South Central Public Lands Study (SCPLS) was a land use study focused on:

  • Three surplus school sites (Brantwood, Chisholm and Linbrook Public Schools)
  • The Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital site
  • The Oakville Arena site (including the surrounding Trafalgar Park)

There are a number of projects related to the implementation of the land use concepts for the five sites studied:

  • Former Hospital Site Project
  • Former Brantwood School site
  • Chisholm site zoning by-law amendment and draft plan of subdivision
  • Linbrook School site plan approval and construction

The purpose of the study was to:

  • determine the ability to fit any recreational needs established in the Parks, Recreation and Library Facilities Master Plan on the sites
  • identify other public or community needs that may be accommodated on the sites
  • define a preferred land use option for each of the sites included in the study

The study was conducted by town planning staff; the comprehensive technical analysis of the preliminary land use options was completed with the support of The Planning Partnership and their team, which included N. Barry Lyon Consultants and MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects.
