Become a school crossing guard

Do you enjoy working with children? Are you physically fit? Become a school crossing guard!

Our crossing guard programs assist children from the Halton Catholic District School Board and the Halton District School Board.

If you are interested in becoming a Town of Oakville crossing guard, you can fill out and mail in an application form (pdf) or apply online by viewing our current opportunities.

Crossing guards work a maximum of three hours per day during the school year.

School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week - June 2-6, 2025

We're grateful for the dedication of school crossing guards in the Town of Oakville who keep students safe, rain or shine!

As part of our commitment to recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contributions of School Crossing Guards, the Ontario Traffic Council (OTC) School Crossing Programs Committee is excited to announce the six winners of the province-wide School Crossing Guard Appreciation Drawing Contest.

The winning drawings, including one from an Oakville resident, are featured on thank-you cards that residents can print and distribute during School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week. You can also print and distribute the official poster, featuring all of the winners' drawings.
