Oakville supports Federal-Provincial investments in Oakville plant

Oakville Town Council supports Federal-Provincial long-term investment and cooperation in generating electric vehicle production at Oakville’s Ford Plant.

Council voted unanimously Monday night to a send a resolution of support for the initiative confirmed earlier Monday by the Ontario and Canadian governments.

“Our resolution is a signal to our Federal and Provincial counterparts that Oakville supports long-term investment in the Ford plant that will strengthen Canada’s auto sector and supply chain,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton. “The workers at the Ford plant are the most talented and dedicated workers in the world and their talent combined with the cooperation of all levels of government and Canada’s auto companies will ensure that Canada is a leader in electric vehicle production.”

Mayor Burton is the founder and Chair of the Ontario Auto-Mayors caucus, which works collaboratively at the provincial and federal levels to promote awareness, advocacy and strategic policy initiatives to strengthen the Canadian economy by keeping the automotive sector strong.
