Town Hall goes cashless starting October 1, 2020

Tuesday, September 01, 2020

Starting Thursday, October 1, the ServiceOakville counter at Town Hall will no longer accept cash for payments. The town will continue to accept a variety of other payment options for town programs and services. Cheques can also be mailed or dropped off in the drop box outside the main entrance at Town Hall. Other customer service counters at Town Hall that are currently closed due to COVID-19 will also be cashless once reopened.

Implementing electronic forms of payment provides an additional level of convenience for residents, providing quicker service at customer service counters, reducing lineups, and offering the ability to monitor payment activities and control risks. Eliminating cash handling also reduces the risk of theft and fraud and promotes a healthier and safer environment for both staff and customers.

The town offers many convenient ways to receive and pay property taxes. Visit the tax payment option page at oakville.ca for details.

Also beginning October 1, Transit SPLIT passes will no longer be available for purchase at Town Hall. They can be purchased using cash, debit or credit at the Oakville Transit facility at 430 Wyecroft Road.
