Town of Oakville and Oakville Youth Action Committee launch third annual Youth Mural Project
The Town of Oakville, in partnership with the Oakville Youth Action Committee (OYAC), is inviting creative, curious, and community-driven teens to be part of something bold and inspiring. This fall, the Youth Mural Project returns to Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, offering youth a unique opportunity to make their mark through public art.
Led by local artist Ray Vidal, the project will mentor 12 youth artists aged 13 to 17, as they design and paint a large-scale indoor mural that celebrates imagination, teamwork, and the vibrant spirit of Oakville’s youth.
This free program provides participants with the opportunity to earn 42 volunteer hours while engaging in hands-on art workshops and receiving guidance from a professional artist. Youth will also help create a lasting public artwork that reflects their creativity and connection to the community. No prior visual art experience is required, just a passion for learning and a desire to make a difference.
Now in its third year, the Youth Mural Project has previously transformed spaces at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (2024) and River Oaks Community Centre (2025), leaving behind powerful visual legacies created by Oakville’s youth.
Applications are due by Monday, September 8, 2025. Interested youth can find the application online on the Call for Submissions page.
Looking to get involved with OYAC? The town is accepting applications to join until August 25, 2025 for those between the ages of 13 and 18.
