The Town of Oakville is pleased to release its 2024 Annual Report, showcasing a year of significant progress in advancing its Strategic Plan while maintaining a strong fiscal position and investing responsibly in the future.
Once again, Oakville’s independent external auditors, KPMG, have issued an unqualified – or “clean” – audit opinion on the Town’s Consolidated Financial Statements. This confirms that the financial statements fairly and accurately reflect Oakville’s financial position and results for the year.
Key highlights from the 2024 Annual Report include:
- Managing growth and building livable neighbourhoods: Advanced key growth management initiatives, including the approval of a Housing Strategy and Action Plan, launch of a new Housing Secretariat Office, and release of planning updates for Midtown Oakville and the Uptown Core to support complete, connected communities.
- Leading in Climate Action: Introduced electric buses to the transit fleet, earned LEED Gold certification for the Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre, and launched new initiatives contributing to the Town’s net zero carbon goal by 2050.
- Building Community Connections: Celebrated youth changemakers through the first-ever Oakville Youth Awards; approved a multi-year Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Plan to guide future initiatives; achieved Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification at three facilities to expand meaningful access for residents of all abilities.
- Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility and Innovation: Maintained the lowest property tax increase among neighbouring municipalities through the 2025 Budget and launched a new self-serve Property Tax Portal to simplify access to tax information.
- Earning Recognition and Awards: Received recognition as the most livable community in Ontario and ranked as Canada’s top participating community in Culture Days for the third consecutive year, affirming Oakville’s leadership in arts and culture.
