I am saddened to share the news of the death of Ward 5 Town Councillor Marc Reyer Grant - a trusted friend and colleague - who passed away on Monday, July 27, after a sudden illness.
On behalf of Oakville Town Council and everyone who serves this community, I extend condolences to Marc's family and friends.
Marc gave Oakville 23 years of service since 2003 as Ward 5's elected representative. He was a champion of transit, parks, and public gathering spaces, a voice on poverty and food security.
We all benefitted from Marc's service to our town.
Celebration of Life
A service celebrating the life of Councillor Marc Grant will take place on August 8 at 11a.m., in the Town Hall Main Atrium, offering an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues, members of Council and the community to pay their respects and reflect on Councillor Grant’s life and service to Oakville.
The family has requested that guests wear something purple.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Marc Reyer Grant Memorial Fund.
The memorial will include an honour guard from Oakville Fire, along with readings and remarks from those who knew and worked alongside Councillor Grant.
A book of condolences is now available in the front foyer of Town Hall at ServiceOakville.
