Current Sixteen Mile Branch will close on March 13 to prepare for the move

The Town of Oakville is putting the finishing touches on its newest community hub at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex featuring a brand-new community centre and permanent Oakville Public Library branch. The new facilities will open to the public on March 31, with an opening celebration planned for May.

The current Sixteen Mile Branch at 3250 Neyagawa Blvd will close for service on March 13 to allow staff to prepare and move collections and install equipment in the new permanent location. The temporary closure is expected to have minimal service impact, and customers will be directly notified ahead of the closure. Starting March 31, customers can visit the new branch to browse the robust print and media collections, access the study, meeting and children’s areas, with additional services and spaces introduced over the following weeks.

Recreation and Culture registered programs will begin in April, with the pool set to open late spring.

About the complex expansion:

  • 65,000 square foot community centre with aquatic facilities, fitness centre, indoor track, gymnasium and multi-use spaces for diverse programming.
  • 18,000+ square foot Oakville Public Library branch offering flexible work, study, gathering and program spaces, creative studios, public computers and Wi Fi.
  • Accessibility features including barrier free parking and vehicle access near entrances, illuminated wayfinding and accessible ramp entry to the pool.
  • Outdoor courts for basketball, pickleball, tennis and beach volleyball coming summer 2026
