2026 Victoria Day Town facility closures, transit schedule, and fireworks safety

The following facilities will be closed on May 18, 2026, in recognition of the Victoria Day holiday:

Facility closures

• Town Hall
• All community centres, seniors' centres, pools, arenas
• Harbour administrative offices
• Cemetery offices
• Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts (closed Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18)
• All Oakville Public Library branches (closed Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18)
• Oakville Transit office

To report an emergency related to Town services such as traffic signals or signs, parks or trees, roads or sidewalks, or by-law matters, please call 905-845-6601 to reach our after-hours dispatch service. Non-emergency concerns can be submitted at any time through our online services. 

Oakville Transit

Oakville Transit will be offering its holiday service schedule on Monday, May 18, 2025, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Oakville Museum

• Open Saturday, May 16 through Monday, May 18 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
• Celebrate International Museum Day on Monday, May 18, by visiting The Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate located at 8 Navy Street, as well as the Old Post Office Museum located at Lakeside Park

Fireworks safety and by-law regulations

If you plan on lighting fireworks during the Victoria Day weekend, please visit the Fireworks Safety page for information on how to use fireworks safely, responsibly, legally, and respectfully. Remember:

• you must be aged 18 or older to use and have fireworks in your possession.
• lighting fireworks is only permitted on the day of/day before/day after Victoria Day.
• lighting fireworks is not permitted after 11 p.m.
• lighting fireworks is not permitted in our parks, streets, or any public property.
• do not aim fireworks at people, pets, or property.

Not a permitted day? Not safe? No adults? No fireworks.
