Town program impacts due to Air Quality Advisory on July 15 and 16, 2026

Environment Canada has issued an Orange Air Quality Warning for Oakville due to smoke from ongoing forest fires. As a result, some programs will be changed or cancelled.

Recreation and Culture programs

As a precaution, all active outdoor recreation programs are cancelled for the remainder of the day and for tomorrow, Thursday July 16, including Super Playgrounds, Instructional Tennis and outdoor swimming lessons. Outdoor summer camp activities will be moved indoors. 

Outdoor pools will remain open for drop-in swimming, and staff will continue to monitor conditions.

Participants in cancelled programs will receive a credit for the missed class. Rental clients with bookings July 15 or 16 may cancel outdoor bookings without penalty.

Most registered and drop-in programs are indoors and air conditioned. Participants are reminded to participate at their comfort level.

Please avoid strenuous outdoor activity and listen to your body. If you experience coughing, throat irritation or shortness of breath, please move indoors.

Summer Splash event rescheduled

Oakville Fire's Summer Splash event at Wynten Park on July 15 has been postponed. 

It is rescheduled for July 16.

Please note: Oakville Fire will continue to monitor the weather, as haze and poor air quality are expected to persist into tomorrow. If conditions worsen, we will provide updates on our social media channels.
