Mayor Burton’s statement on Ford of Canada and Unifor agreement

It’s terrific news that Ford of Canada and Unifor have reached a tentative agreement on a three-year national labour contract covering more than 3,400 workers in Oakville and more than 5,000 unionized employees in Canada.

I believe the pivot to electric vehicle production will prove to be historic, a “homerun”, as Unifor President Jerry Dias called it.

Council and our community welcome today’s announcement and await ratification by Unifor to learn the fine details of the agreement.
