Notice of Statutory Public Meeting on March 9, 2020 for a proposed Official Plan Amendment for 1515 and 1521 Rebecca Street

You are invited to attend and provide input at this meeting hosted by Planning and Development Council.

The purpose of the official plan amendment is to amend the Community Commercial designation of the Livable Oakville Plan by adding a site-specific exception to allow for residential uses on the site consisting of multiple attached dwelling units up to 3 storeys in height and a retirement home up to 9 storeys in height.

The effect of the application is to redevelop a 2.9 ha portion of the 8.5 ha South Oakville Centre with 86 townhouse units ranging in height between 2 to 3 storeys and one 9 storey retirement residence containing 131 independent supportive units, and 30 assisted living units (total of 161 units for retirement residence, 247 units overall inclusive of proposed townhouse component). An internal private road network is proposed with access from Rebecca Street and the remnant portion of the South Oakville Centre.

The subject parcel of land is located at the northeast corner of Third Line and Rebecca Street.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Town of Oakville to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to Council c/o the Town Clerk at the Town of Oakville, Clerk’s department, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3 or at TownClerk@oakville.ca  before the official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to Council c/o the Town Clerk at the Town of Oakville, Clerk’s department, before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

Any submission to the Planning and Development Council, either in hard copy or in electronic format, must be forwarded to the Clerk's department for receipt no later than noon on March 9, 2020, to ensure its availability to the Members of Council at the meeting. Individuals making oral submissions at the public meeting are requested to submit a written outline of the submission to the Town Clerk.  All submissions should include the full name and address of the presenter.
