Get active and creative with free activities for the family across Oakville on Family Day

Mark your calendar! The Town of Oakville’s popular Family Day event returns on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a variety of facilities across Oakville. The event, sponsored by Sagen Canada, invites families to enjoy free events and activities for all ages and abilities.

The town has partnered with the Oakville Public Library, Oakville Gymnastics Club, Oakville Minor Lacrosse Association, Oakville Soccer Club, Peter Gilgan Family YMCA, and other community organizations to offer a wide variety of recreation and culture activities, demonstrations, and exhibitions for the community.

In addition to skating, swimming, basketball, improv, cricket, badminton, dance, and other activities that will get you active and creative, residents can participate in:

  • Art, trivia, and other creative activities at select Oakville Public Library branches
  • Short-track speed skating at River Oaks Community Centre
  • Learning how to skate with the Oakville Rangers at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex
  • Exploring arts and culture exhibits at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre
  • Learning about local history at the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate
  • A tour of Oakville Fire Station 3 that will showcase old and new fire trucks and equipment

Family Day will also feature performances by High Rendition Jazz, Circle of Harmony, Oakville Symphony, Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton, Bandology and more at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre.

DuffleBag Theatre will be at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts (OCPA), performing Robin Hood live at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and tickets are available online for $10.

All activities are free and require pre-registration, unless otherwise stated (such as the performance at the OCPA) in the event schedule. Online registration will open on Friday, February 17, 2023. Please only sign up for programs you know you will attend to give everyone a chance to participate.
