Town-wide additional housing units and Sheridan College housing area
After gathering input from the public earlier this year, town staff will present proposed amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law at the May 6, 2024, Planning and Development Council meeting.
The proposed amendments would allow up to four housing units per detached residential property across the town and establish a designated Special Policy Area within 800 metres of Sheridan College. In this specified area, townhomes and low-rise apartment style buildings will also be permitted. The changes aim to improve the availability and range of housing options in Oakville and facilitate the town’s access to funding from the federal Housing Accelerator Fund.
More details are available on the Planning Public Notice page and the proposed amendments are available on the Housing Accelerator Fund page for public review. Written comments can be provided by emailing townclerk@oakville.ca by May 3, 2024. Residents, businesses, community groups and other interested members of the public can also participate in the May 6, 2024 public meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Oakville Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Road. To register as a delegate, email townclerk@oakville.ca or call 905-815-6015 by noon on Friday, May 3, 2024. The public meeting will also be live streamed on the Town of Oakville’s YouTube channel.
All inputs received will be considered by Planning and Development Council before they make their decision on May 6, 2024.
