Gain volunteer hours, build leadership skills, and make a difference in your community
The Town of Oakville is now accepting applications for the Oakville Youth Action Committee (OYAC) for the 2025–2026 school year. If you're between the ages of 13 and 18 and ready to make a difference, meet new friends, and have your voice heard, this is your chance to step up and help shape the future of youth in Oakville.
OYAC is looking for motivated, creative, and community-minded youth who are ready to make things happen. This volunteer opportunity could be a great fit if you're excited to:
- Connect with like-minded peers and explore shared interests
- Plan and lead fun, meaningful events for youth in Oakville
- Advocate for youth voices and help shape local initiatives
- Collaborate with community organizations to drive change
- Earn volunteer hours toward your high school diploma
As an OYAC member, you’ll help lead recreational and cultural initiatives that create positive, inclusive experiences for youth in Oakville. Past projects have included:
- Creating a public art mural at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) and River Oaks Community Centre
- Organizing Youth Week activities and the Oakville Youth Awards
- Supporting events such as Family Day, Culture Days, and Community Play Nights
Members will serve a one-year term from September to June, with monthly in-person meetings held in the Youth Centre at QEPCCC. Additional meetings may be scheduled to support special events throughout the year.
Those who are new members must submit an application to be considered. Applications are due by Monday, August 25, 2025, and can be submitted online on the OYAC page.
Please note that only selected applicants will be contacted.
