Public engagement opportunities for Phase 1 in August and September

The Town of Oakville is putting together a Bronte Waterfront Strategy to guide the future development of the area. This strategy aligns with Council’s priority to create a vibrant, well-connected, and thriving waterfront area for the community and attract visitors. Options will be presented for a revitalized waterfront to include new programming, amenities, and public gathering spaces, among other features.

The strategy will be shaped through a collaborative process – engaging the community to ensure the final recommendations presented to Council in early 2026 reflect Oakville’s vision for the Bronte waterfront. The key areas of focus include: connectivity and integration; year-round activation; wayfinding and signage; the Bronte Boathouse building; and the Metro Marine Building and surrounding spaces. The project’s study area will also include: Berta Point, Bronte Bluffs Park, Bronte Beach Park, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park.

Project timeline

The Bronte Waterfront Strategy project will be completed in three phases. Timelines are tentative and subject to change:

  • Phase 1: Understanding the opportunities (August to October 2025)
  • Phase 2: Exploring options (November 2025 to January 2026)
  • Phase 3: Developing the preferred plan (January to March 2026)

In-person and online engagement opportunities

Phase 1 of the strategy offers several upcoming engagement opportunities (in-person and online) that the public is invited to participate in:

  • August 23 to 24, 2025 and August 30 to September 1, 2025 – Roving project information station. Talk to a member of the project consulting team at a roving information station at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, Fisherman’s Wharf or the Farmers Market at Bronte Market Square and provide your input.
  • August 27, 2025 – One-on-one conversations. Register for a 15-minute, one-on-one conversation with a member of the project consulting team. Email bronte@planpart.ca with your availability and contact information. The conversation can be over the phone or through a virtual meeting.
  • September 16, 2025 – In-person workshop. Attend an in-person workshop at Walton United Church, 2489 Lakeshore Road West, from 3 to 5 p.m. or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The sessions will present the same information and begin with a presentation, followed by roundtable discussions.

Additional engagement sessions and an online questionnaire for the next phases in the strategy are planned for early November 2025 and late January 2026. More details will be provided on the Bronte Waterfront Strategy page once they are available.
