The Bronte Waterfront Strategy was shaped through a collaborative process to ensure it reflected the community’s vision for the waterfront. The strategy was endorsed by Council on May 25, 2026.
The strategy establishes a coordinated vision to support future investment, enhance public access, improve connectivity, and encourage year-round use of the waterfront, while also protecting environmental features, preserving cultural heritage, and maintaining harbour and boating operations.
Development of the strategy began in July 2025 and over nine months was shaped by extensive public engagement including three public meetings, an online questionnaire with more than 450 responses, one-on-one conversations, pop-up engagement opportunities and consultation with residents, businesses, and community organizations.
Implementation
The strategy identifies a range of potential initiatives to be implemented over time. These include:
- Improved waterfront promenades and pedestrian connections
- Enhancements to parks, gathering spaces, and amenities
- Opportunities for seasonal programming and activities
- Flexible public spaces to support events and community use
Projects are anticipated to be delivered in phases (short-, medium-, and long-term) and will be subject to future Council approval through the Town’s capital budget process.
