About this project
As a part of an annual rehabilitation program, the Parks and Open Space Department has had inspections of all bridge and stair structures conducted to determine any required works.
The structures included in this current project were identified as requiring replacement, mostly because they did not meet current Town standards or were at the end of their design life.
Along with structural replacements, sections of trails and landscaping may be updated or upgraded simultaneously.
The sites and their respective works include:
The existing wooden boardwalk will be replaced with a new one. A retaining wall will be added to address an erosion issue as well as landscape treatment at the adjacent hill.
Indian Ridge Trail
The existing double culverts will be replaced with a manufactured steel bridge.
McCraney Valley Park
The existing culvert will be replaced with a manufactured steel pedestrian bridge.
Sixteen Mile Creek – boardwalk
The existing boardwalk will be replaced with a new one. The scope of work may also include creek realignment.
Glen Oak Creek Trail
The existing wooden pedestrian bridge will be replaced with a manufactured steel bridge.
The two existing manufactured steel pedestrian bridges will be replaced with new ones.
The existing wooden elevated boardwalk will be replaced with a new one.
Morrison Valley South

Iroquois Shoreline Woodlot
The existing small wooden pedestrian bridge will be replaced with a new one.
The existing wooden boardwalk will be replaced with a wider boardwalk. The construction is deferred to 2024 pending on budget.
Sixteen Mile Creek – staircase
The extra-large staircase structure is scheduled for repairs/replacement (construction deferred to 2024).
Geotechnical work is schedule for April-May 2023. Construction work will progress from one site to another and is anticipated to begin end of summer and run until early 2024.
