Phased registration for the Town's Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program opens in October

Tuesday, September 23, 2025

The Town of Oakville’s Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing program will open for registration in two phases this fall:

  • Phase 1: Starting October 1 until October 15, advanced priority registration will be available for residents 65 years of age or older, and/or those with a physical disability or medical condition that may prevent them from clearing windrows on their own.
  • Phase 2: Starting October 20 until November 7, Town-wide registration for all residents will be available.

Registration and payment can be completed through the Town’s online services. Interested residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, once registration opens. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and capped to a maximum of 1,100 driveways. A non-refundable fee of $184 + HST, per driveway entrance for the entire season must be paid at the time of registration.

Should program capacity be reached before November 7, the Town will close registration.

Driveway windrow snow clearing services will run from December 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026.

Quick Facts

  • A snow windrow is the pile of snow that is left at the bottom of a driveway after the snow plow has cleared the road.
  • The Town’s annual Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing program is a paid service that removes a portion of the windrow along the driveway following a snow event.
  • The windrow service does not include private driveway clearing.
  • The program is only initiated if 7.5 centimetres of snow accumulation is reached after the snow event ends, and after all roads have been plowed.
  • The service clears approximately 80 per cent of the driveway width and not to bare pavement.
  • Previous program registrants of the 2024/2025 program will also be notified of the registration timelines directly so those interested previous registrants can apply for this year’s program.
