Monday, March 23, 2026

The annual Oakville Community Spirit Awards are back for their 24th year, and nominations are now open! Residents are invited to recognize local community champions who have made a meaningful difference in Oakville over the past year.

The Town of Oakville’s Community Spirit Awards celebrate residents and community members of all ages making meaningful contributions to the community through volunteer efforts or acts of kindness. The awards honour individuals, organizations, businesses, and community groups that enrich Oakville’s neighbourhoods and strengthen the broader community.

Nominations will be accepted until Monday, April 27 at 4 p.m. in the following award categories:

  1. Arts, Culture and Heritage Award – sponsored by Creative Arts Financial, a division of FirstOntario Credit Union
  2. Climate Action Award – sponsored by JNE Landscaping and Maintenance
  3. Good Neighbour Award – sponsored by Chartwell Retirement Residences
  4. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Award – sponsored by Access Abilities
  5. Inspiration Award – sponsored by RBC Royal Bank
  6. Leadership and Innovation Award – sponsored by FirstOntario Credit Union

Nominees will be celebrated on June 17, 2026, at the annual Community Spirit Awards event taking place at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre. More details will be shared in May when the nominees are announced.

Each year, a local artist is selected to design the awards. This year’s selected artist is Megan Hazen. Hazen is an acrylic painter who incorporates wood burning into her work to add depth and dimension to each piece. Her paintings often feature animals and places that remind her of home, with each artwork representing a memory that contributes to a larger story. Her Community Spirit Awards award pieces are now on display at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre.
