Oakville Town Council appoints Jamie Bay as Ward 5 Town Councillor

At the September 8, 2026 Town of Oakville Planning and Development Council meeting, Town Council appointed Jamie Bay as the new Ward 5 Town Councillor. The appointment comes following the passing of Councillor Marc Grant in July, whose seat had to be filled according to the Municipal Act, 2001 as his passing occurred more than 90 days from the 2026 Municipal Election. 

While the appointment was originally slated for the September 28, 2026 Council meeting, Ward 5 Town and Regional Councillor Jeff Knoll brought an alternate motion to identify and appoint Bay on September 8 to ensure continuity of Ward 5 governance. 

With Bay’s appointment, Bay may participate in the remaining Council meetings for the balance of the term, including the September 28 Council meeting.
