Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Opening Celebration takes place May 30, 2026

The Town of Oakville is inviting residents to celebrate a major community milestone at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free, family-friendly event marks the expansion of a vibrant, community hub that brings parks, recreation, culture and learning together in one place.

The expanded complex features a newly opened 65,000 square-foot community centre, featuring a fitness centre, gymnasium and a variety of program spaces. Aquatic facilities are scheduled to open in summer 2026. The site is also home to an 18,000+-plus square-foot Oakville Public Library branch offering modern study, creative and community gathering spaces.

Designed to support active living and outdoor play, the site features a playground, bike pump track, all-wheel park, outdoor fitness station, cricket and sports fields, and a dog park. Additional park amenities will open in summer 2026, including fully accessible outdoor courts for basketball, pickleball, tennis and beach volleyball. Together, these amenities enhance the parks and recreation experience for residents of all ages and abilities.

Members of Council will be joined by community partners for opening remarks at 11 a.m., followed by a full day of free activities.

  • Enjoy try it activities with local partners 
  • Snap photos at fun backdrops throughout the complex
  • Enjoy passive activities in the library

Parking and access

Free on-site parking is available, with vehicle access from Sixteen Mile Drive or Neyagawa Boulevard. Attendees are encouraged to follow posted signage and allow extra time, as event set up and activities will be taking place throughout the facility.

Walking and cycling are encouraged where possible, with designated bike parking available.
