Celebrate the joy of cycling during Bike Month with a month-long program of events that inspire, connect, and empower our community. Bike Month offers residents of all ages opportunities to embrace active transportation and explore cycling as a fun, safe, and sustainable way to get around.

Whether you’re discovering a new route, joining a bike rodeo, or learning about the broader impact of cycling through our virtual sessions, Bike Month is your invitation to be part of Oakville’s cycling culture.

Join smart commuters in biking to school the week of June 1 to 5 or cycling to work on Thursday, June 4. Don’t forget to log your trip in the Smart Commute app!

Visit the bike station at the Dorval Crossing Civitan Farmer's Market for free bike safety checks by the Cycling Academy, cycling resources, and an opportunity to chat with ambassadors for the Oakville Public Library Book Bike.

Oakville Bike Fest at Glen Abbey Community Centre

Saturday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Stop by Glen Abbey Community Centre for free bike safety checks with the Cycling Academy, promotional giveaways and workbooks with colouring activities for kids.

Thursday, May 28, from 12 to 1 p.m.

Learn about the benefits of cycling, bicycle parts, safety checks, common rules of the road, cycling gear, and etiquette and techniques. This webinar is perfect for anyone who is unfamiliar with cycling or would like a proper refresher on how to cycle safely this season.

Working towards equity in active transportation requires ongoing engagement with equity-deserving communities to address barriers to participation. The session discusses how our positionality affects our experiences with active transportation, ways to engage equity-deserving groups at different budget levels as well as engagement with people with disabilities. The session will conclude with practical approaches for engaging equity-deserving communities in active transportation efforts.

With tips for touring by bike, whether you’re looking for family-friendly trail rides, bikepacking adventures, or multi-day paved routes, this is a great place to start planning your summer and fall cycling trips.

Log your bike trip for a chance to win!

During the month of June, log your bicycle journey/commute as a ‘trip’ on the SmartCommute.ca app for a chance to win a $50 or $100 e-gift card!

How to participate:

  • Complete a cycling trip.
  • Log your trips on SmartCommute.ca (website or mobile app).
  • New users who create their account between June 1 and 30, 2026, gain two additional entries to the random prize draw.
  • Cycling trips must be taken between June 1 and 30, 2026, and must be logged on the Smart Commute Tool by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 3, to qualify for the prize draw.
  • Up to two bicycle trips per day are eligible for contest entry.
  • A prize draw will be drawn in July. You will be notified if you have won through your email address. Please ensure that it is typed correctly and can be contacted.

Logging a bicycle trip on the SmartCommute.ca automatically enters you into the Smart Commute Contest and winners may choose to opt out receiving the prize.

Sign up and log your trip for a chance to win a $100 gift card

  1. Download the Smart Commute App from the Apple Store or Google Play Store or sign up/log in from the Smart Commute website.
  2. Search a trip directly from the dashboard or find your Commute Calendar to log previous and current trips.
  3. On your Commute Calendar, just drag-and-drop your Travel Mode into the calendar.
  4. Fill in some details about the trip.
