Arenas Ice, Floors and Shooter Pads

The Town of Oakville offers several ice-sport programs including Oakville Hockey Development and the Oakville Recreational Hockey League, rentals, and public skating opportunities on 19 ice and shooter pads in seven facilities.

An unexpected cancellation has opened up the following ice times:

  • October 21, 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Glen Abbey
  • October 21, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Joshua’s Creek Arenas
  • October 22, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Glen Abbey
  • October 22, 8-11 p.m. at Joshua’s Creek Arenas

Please book any last-minute ice requests for these times directly with the customer service desk at Glen Abbey Community Centre or Joshua’s Creek Arenas.

Same-day and last-minute ice bookings

Looking for last-minute ice time? You can request ice bookings up to two days in advance! For example, if you call on Monday, you can now book for the same day, Tuesday or Wednesday ice times.

As of September 1, 2017, the cost per hour of ice is $146 plus insurance* at all arenas, subject to availability and HST.

*Please note that insurance fees vary by number of people and length of play.

Arenas and ice rentals information

Bookings can be made by email or by calling the specific arena to confirm availability, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., and then completing the contract and providing payment before going on the ice.

Ice users are reminded that all requests will be based on date and time stamp of delivery, so we encourage you to email in your requested bookings. Please note last minute ice bookings are not approved until you receive a confirmation email or call from the Town of Oakville.

A timetable for requests and permit confirmation deadlines is set annually. Current clients that are in good standing will be contacted and requested to submit their requirements to the booking clerk before each season deadline.

Fall/winter ice: September-March

Spring/summer ice and floor: April-September

Casual bookings

Short term or single use bookings are available following the permit confirmation deadline for each season on a first-come, first-served basis. Permits are confirmed then signed by an authorized representative. Confirmed permits require full payment, or approved monthly payment plan for the period of the scheduled bookings. Bookings requested with less than 24 hours' notice should be made directly to the arena. For all other requests, please complete a facility request form (see above) and return to bookafacility@oakville.ca.

  • All rates are per 50 minute hour.
  • Dressing rooms will be made available to permit holder 20 minutes prior to permitted time and must be vacated 30 minutes after the permitted time.
  • It is the responsibility of the team/group to obtain a key for the dressing rooms. The town will not be held responsible for any loss or theft of personal items.
  • No persons shall enter the ice surface while the ice resurfacer is on the ice and/or the arena service door is open.
  • Licensee must comply with recommended capacity restrictions.
  • Warm up activities are to be confined to the designated area and must be properly supervised. No running in the hallways or stairways or use of the parking lot is permitted.

Rates and fees

Council approves rental fees annually based on current market trends, base rates/fees and current budget requirements. The rates are subject to change pending Council approval.

Prime time rates are in effect Monday to Friday from 5 to 11 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Non-prime time rates are in effect at all other times. Fees are per 50-minute hour. All rates include applicable taxes and surcharge. Insurance is available for an additional fee.
