Registration now open for Halton youth aspiring to join the fire service

The fire departments of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills have exciting news for youth in Halton Region! Registration for Blaze Fire Academy - a youth camp offering first-hand experience into all aspects of the fire service - is now accepting online applications. Blaze Academy continues to provide opportunities to inspire “Fire Services for All”. 

The first camp from July 10 to 11, 2024 is open to all youth, ages 15 to 18. The second camp from August 14 to 15, 2024 is open to young women, ages 15 to 18. 

The online applications close on June 13, 2024.

Up to 24 participants will be selected for each of the camps to be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Training Campus in Oakville, with immersive training offered as follows:

• Fire dispatch
• Search and rescue
• Auto extrication
• Medical 
• Forcible entry and roof operations
• Fire hydrant competition
• Firefighter survival 
• Fire prevention and education 
• Information session about fire service education, courses and certification 
• Graduation ceremony
