A bold new mural now welcomes visitors to Trafalgar Park Community Centre, adding a splash of colour and a sense of belonging to the facility’s interior entrance. Recently unveiled by the Town of Oakville, the artwork celebrates community spirit, meaningful connections, and collaboration across generations.
Created through the combined efforts of professional artist Kseniya Tsoy, local youth (ages 13 to 18), and older adults (ages 50 and up), the mural tells the story of Oakville’s Kerr Street neighbourhood through the perspectives of those who live, work, and play in the community.
The piece highlights intergenerational connection and honours local heritage, creativity, and community pride. It features familiar landmarks, including the former Oakville Seniors Recreation Centre on Kerr Street, scenic views of Lake Ontario, and the surrounding green spaces.
The mural has also been nominated in the 2025 Creative City Impact Awards under the Public Art: Sustainability category. These awards celebrate the achievements of Canadian municipalities in cultural programming. Winners will be announced in October 2025.
