Blaze Fire Academy encourages young women to explore careers in fire services

Registration closes on June 23

Young women aged 15 to 18 in Halton are invited to apply for a unique opportunity to explore career paths and experiences in fire services.

Hosted in partnership by the fire departments of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills, Blaze Fire Academy gives participants first-hand experience in all aspects of fire services through dynamic, team-based activities.

Online applications are now open for this year’s cohort, taking place on August 6 and 7, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Training Campus in Oakville. 

Up to 24 young women will be selected to take part in this immersive, two-day program, which includes: 

  • Fire dispatch
  • Search and rescue
  • Auto extrication
  • Medical 
  • Forcible entry and roof operations
  • Fire hydrant competition
  • Firefighter survival 
  • Fire prevention and education
  • Opportunities in fire service education and certification

Interested young women are encouraged to apply by June 23, 2026 at 4 p.m.
