Town of Oakville Significant Weather Declaration beginning July 10, 2026

Friday, July 10, 2026

The Town of Oakville has declared a Significant Weather Event following yesterday’s storm. The Significant Weather Event declaration starts at 12 p.m. (noon) on July 10, 2026, and will continue until further notice.

This declaration suspends the Town’s standard timelines for parks and roads maintenance services, allowing crews the flexibility to prioritize storm response activities to address a high volume of calls related to downed trees and damaged tree limbs resulting from the storm. Crews have been working continuously since yesterday afternoon and overnight and continue to respond to the impacts from the storm. Efforts are focused on clearing fallen trees and large branches that have fallen on hydro lines and/or are blocking roads, sidewalks, and other public spaces.

As crews continue cleanup efforts across the community, residents may notice longer-than-usual response times due to the high volume of service requests. Work is being prioritized based on public safety needs, and affected areas will be addressed as quickly and safely as possible.

The Town appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as cleanup efforts continue over the coming days.

A Significant Weather Event is a declaration by the Town recognizing that a recent   weather event resulted in substantial damage to Town roadways, sidewalks, pathways and bike lanes and/or other municipal infrastructure.

During a Significant Weather Event, residents are asked to please give Town staff time to finish clearing all routes and reach every area. Drive safely, watch for crews working on the roadside and follow any posted detours or traffic control signage. Stay away from all hydro wires on the ground. Don’t touch trees or branches in contact with hydro wires.

Visit the News & Notices page and follow the Town’s social media channels (X, Instagram and Facebook) for ongoing storm response updates.
