Completion of Recommended Midtown Transportation Plan and Stormwater Management Plan
The Town of Oakville is developing a Midtown Implementation Program which includes infrastructure master planning studies for transportation and stormwater. These studies are completed and aligned with the Midtown Oakville Official Plan Amendment (OPA 70) as adopted by Town Council in February 2025, and other elements of the implementation program, including the Town’s Transportation Master Plan and the Region of Halton’s Transportation and Water and Waste Water Master Plans, and emerging new Integrated Master Plan.
The Midtown Transportation Plan and Stormwater Management Plan (“the Plans”) have been prepared in accordance with Phase 1 and 2, Approach 1, of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (as amended in February 2024) for Master Plans, which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Plans identify the recommended infrastructure to support the growth of Midtown Oakville into a vibrant, transit-oriented, and mixed-use urban centre with sustainable infrastructure systems. The preferred transportation solution combines road improvements, transit supportive strategies, and active transportation infrastructure and policies, including recommendations from previous studies, along with additional network improvements. The preferred stormwater management solution follows a Treatment-Train approach and includes conventional stormwater management measures and innovative Low Impact Development measures. The Plans incorporate the comments received from the public and stakeholders during the studies. These Plan studies form the basis for future, more detailed investigations for projects that are subject to the Environmental Assessment Act.
The Plans are available for a 30-day public review period beginning March 23, 2026, and ending April 22, 2026. The reports are available on the Town of Oakville’s Midtown webpage: Midtown Oakville Growth Area Review.
