Amendment of Heritage Conservation District By-law
On March 23, 2026, Oakville Town Council, pursuant to Section 41 of the Ontario Heritage Act, RSO. 1980, c.337, passed By-law 2026-047, a by-law to amend By-law 2013-004, being a by-law to designate the Downtown Oakville Heritage Conservation District under Section 41 of the Ontario Heritage Act, to revise the Downtown Oakville Heritage Conservation District Plan and Guidelines dated January 2026.
In accordance with section 41 (4) of the Ontario Heritage Act, any person who objects to the by-law may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal by forwarding to the Tribunal and the Town Clerk (at the Town of Oakville, Clerk’s department, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3 or at TownClerk@oakville.ca) within 30 days after the date of publication on the Town’s website, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the By-law and the reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by the fee charged by the Tribunal. A copy of the appeal form is available from the Ontario Land Tribunal website. The last date to appeal this by-law is April 27, 2026.
In accordance with section 41 (6), if a notice of appeal is given within the period specified, the Tribunal shall hold a hearing, and before holding the hearing, give notice to such persons or bodies and in such manner as the Tribunal may determine. In accordance with section 41 (5), if no notice of appeal is given within this date, the by-law comes into force on the day following the last day of the appeal period.
