It’s construction season in Oakville, and the Town is working hard on projects to improve infrastructure, enhance public spaces, and support future growth. Residents can expect to see work being undertaken around Town that supports environmental sustainability, growth management and community belonging, ensuring that Oakville is a vibrant and livable place for all.
2025 construction highlights
The following are a few of the many construction projects being undertaken by the Town this construction season. These projects represent an investment of over $42.5 million in 2025.
Bronte Beach Redevelopment Project
This project will rejuvenate the beach and adjacent park areas with a range of new and enhanced amenities, restoring the shoreline to its original condition. Due to years of erosion caused by severe storms, the beach has experienced significant degradation. The revitalized Bronte Beach is anticipated to open to the public later this month.
Project highlights:
- Contouring of the beach shaped naturally by lake dynamics. This process is expected to take one to two seasons, but the site will be open for public use.
- Upgraded pathways and seating areas.
- A new playground.
- Enhanced landscaping including sand dune planting to support beach ecological resilience.
Traffic Calming Program
This project will see the continued implementation of traffic calming measures in school zones on major collector and minor arterial roadways. These measures will reduce speeding and aggressive driving and include adding raised medians, lateral shifts, as well as installing bollards and other works. The initiative is part of the Neighbourhood Traffic Safety Program, aimed at making school zones safer by reducing speed in areas frequented by children and other residents.
Some schools included this year are:
- Captain R. Wilson Public School
- Emily Carr Public School
- Palermo Public School
- Oodenawi Public School
- St. Joan of Arc Catholic Elementary School
- St. Mary Catholic Elementary School
- St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School
- West Oak Public School
Road Resurfacing Program
This annual program focuses on improving the driving surfaces of Oakville’s roadways. Over the summer, resurfacing will take place on over 30 roads in Wards 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Resurfacing projects take three to five weeks to complete and are typically done in six separate phases. Pavement management software is used to help create an all-inclusive, cost-effective annual road resurfacing and preservation program. A full list of roads being resurfaced in 2025, and regular updates can be found on the Road Resurfacing Schedule web page.
Project highlights:
- Asphalt removal and replacement
- Adjustment of maintenance holes within roadways
- Concrete curb and sidewalk repairs to address drainage issues, tripping hazards, and accessibility
- Sod restoration, where required

The town is currently moving into Phase 3, which includes the installation of new park amenities, and continued work on the community centre and library, with an expected opening in 2026. Check out the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex page for more information about the project, including monthly construction updates.
