CAO and Commissioners

The head of the town's administrative structure is the chief administrative officer (CAO). Three commissioners report to the CAO, each is responsible for a specific service area including Community Services, Community Development and Corporate Services.

Vision statement

To demonstrate leadership and a commitment to excellence in the overall administration and management of the Corporation of the Town of Oakville.

Responsibilities of the Office of the CAO

  • Leads the administration and management of the Town of Oakville
  • Establishes corporate priorities and projects based on Council’s Livable Oakville Plan, Council’s Strategic Plan and the annual budget process
  • Ensures Council receives appropriate reports and information necessary for decision making
  • Oversees financial control of all departments and ensures Council is presented with annual estimates of revenue and expenditures
  • Provides direction to town employees; coordinates and directs collective bargaining with all employees and recommends to Council collective agreement terms
  • Oversees corporate projects to improve the customer experience, innovate services and generate efficiencies
  • Oversees economic development, communications and inclusion initiatives
  • Liaises with local boards, commissions, agencies, other municipalities, and the provincial and federal governments
