About the project
The Town of Oakville is undertaking improvements along Wyecroft Road, from Bronte Road to Third Line, to enhance travel options for everyone. This project follows recommendations from a 2018 Environmental Assessment (EA), aimed at making the corridor safer and more efficient for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users.
Background documents are available on the Wyecroft Road Improvements EA page.
Project status
We are currently in the detailed design phase of the Wyecroft Road widening project.
What's new?
Following consultations with design engineers, an alternate design has been proposed. The original plan for both on-road buffered bike lanes and a multi-use path has been updated to include off-road cycle tracks, providing greater separation between vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
This change aligns with the latest Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) guidelines and reflects best practices for active transportation, safety and accessibility on multi-lane arterial roads.
Design features
- Road widening to four lanes (two in each direction) and a centre two-way left turn lane
- 3.5 metres outside lanes
- 3.3 metres through lanes
- 4 metres center left-turn lane
- 1.8 metres sidewalks
- 1.5 metres off-road cycle tracks on both sides of Wyecroft Road
Conceptual design of Wyecroft Road Widening with off-road bikeways and sidewalks

Expected project timelines
- 2025 to 2026 – Design phase
- 2026 to 2027 - Utility relocations
- 2027 to 2028 - Construction begins (subject to weather and property acquisitions)
