Woodhaven Park Drive Storm Sewer and Road Resurfacing

About the project

Construction of new trunk storm sewer system along Woodhaven Park Drive in the Coronation Park area with improved outlet to Lake Ontario. 

As recommended through the Coronation Park Drainage Improvements Class Environmental Assessment, the Town has initiated progressed the detailed design of Woodhaven Park Storm Sewer and Resurfacing project.

Project location and limits

The project includes new storm sewer installation and road resurfacing within the following areas:

• Woodhaven Park Drive from Hixon Street to Lakeshore Road;
• Hixon Street from Willowdown Road to Woodhaven Park Drive;
• Willowdown Road from approximately 260 metres west of Hixon Street to Hixon Street; and
• Coronation Park, from the Woodhaven Park Drive area along Lakeshore Road to the Coronation Park shoreline.

The new storm sewer system will extend from the outlet at Lake Ontario, north through Woodhaven Park Drive, east along Hixon Street, and west along Willowdown Road within the limits noted above.

Project scope

Work will include:

• New storm sewer with catch basins, 
• Road resurfacing,
• Utility relocations, 
• Oil and Grit Separators at coronation park C/W new outfall into Lake Ontario. 
• Enhanced ditches with underdrains where feasible, 
• Soil amendments to improve permeability, and
• Driveway culvert replacements.

Project status

Detailed design is nearing completion, and the Town is preparing tender documents to hire a contractor for construction in fall 2026. Remaining utility relocations are expected in fall 2026.

Expected project timeline

• Town Council - November 20, 2023 - Design of Westminster Drive and Woodhaven Park Drive Improvements
• Green infrastructure review - Complete
• Detailed design completion - Spring 2026
• Utility relocations - Spring and fall 2026
• Tender works - Fall 2026
• Construction work begins - Winter to fall 2027
  • Construction of storm sewer and road resurfacing anticipated to start winter 2027 starting at Coronation Park and will be completed in fall 2027.
