McCraney Creek Bridge Replacement

About the project

The Town of Oakville has initiated a detailed design to replace and upsize McCraney Creek bridge, near 602 Lakeshore Road West. Construction is planned for 2027.

The project will undergo stormwater management improvements to address drainage concerns per the McCraney Creek Bridge Replacement Environmental Assessment. A road closure along Lakeshore Road will be required (up to 60 days) to facilitate construction of the culvert, which will include shifting traffic from Lakeshore Road to a detour route while the culvert is being constructed. In fall and winter of 2026, residents can expect traffic disruptions including reduced lanes to facilitate utility relocations. 

Project location

The culvert replacement is 80 metres north of Fourth Line along Lakeshore Road, and works will extend 50 metres west along McCraney Creek for necessary creek alignments. 

Project timeline

Detailed design work is currently underway. 

• 2025 to 2027 – Detail design and tender works
  • Detailed design completion - December 2026
  • Tender - February 2027
• 2026 to 2027
  • Utility relocations are anticipated for fall of 2026 into 2027 during construction. 
  • Tree clearing is anticipated for fall of 2026
  • Construction of culvert, road resurfacing anticipated to start in spring of 2027 and complete by the end of 2027
