Artifact donations

The Oakville Museum accepts select offers of donation to our permanent collection based on the Collections Management Procedure. All potential donation inquiries will be directed to the Oakville Museum’s Curator of Collections. If you have an object you would like the Oakville Museum to consider for donation, please contact us. The Curator will review the information provided and respond to your email.

We appreciate your interest in helping to preserve Oakville’s heritage in building its collection through donation.

Volunteer opportunities

Do you have experience working with children and the public? Are you interested in historic sites? Volunteers assist museum staff with school-age programs, special workshops and events. This program is a great way to gain valuable work experience, meet new people and contribute to the community.

To become a volunteer, please complete our Oakville Museum Volunteer Application Form (pdf) and email it to This form is available in an accessible format upon request.

Summer camp volunteers

Summer camp volunteers provide support to our day camp programs.

Volunteers must:

  • be at least 13 years old
  • successfully complete a Learn to Lead workshop (includes an interview and introduction to volunteering at summer camp)

Prior to volunteering at the museum, applicants may be required to submit a Police Record Check and, if over 18 years of age, a Vulnerable Sector Check. Screening requirements vary depending on the volunteer role assigned. Details on obtaining these security clearances are available at your local police station or on the Halton Regional Police Service website.
