On-street Parking

Get to know the rules for free street parking in Oakville.

In Oakville, town by-laws do not allow permanent on-street parking. 

You can park your vehicle on the street for free under the following conditions:

  • For a maximum of three hours.
  • By-laws may limit where you can park your vehicle. Look for signage.
  • On-street parking is not allowed at certain times, including:
    • 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. from November 15 to April 15 on any street south of Dundas Street.
    • 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. at any time, on any street north of Dundas Street.
    • Vehicles must not obstruct snow clearing operations

Violation of these rules may result in a parking ticket.

Parking regulations

Not all parking regulations are posted on signs. 

You may be ticketed if your vehicle is:

  • Within one metre of a driveway.
  • Within three metres of a fire hydrant.
  • Within 10 metres of an intersection.
  • On or overhanging a sidewalk.
  • On a boulevard, median or island.
  • Facing the wrong direction of traffic.
  • Blocking another vehicle.
  • In an area restricted by No Parking or No Stopping signs.
