Street sweeping

The Town of Oakville Roads and Works department is responsible for sweeping curb and bike lanes, on both town and regional roads.

Benefits of street sweeping include:

  • Enhances the safety of drivers on the road.
  • Maintains cleanliness in our bike lanes, ensuring the safety of cyclists.
  • Gives Oakville a clean aesthetic appearance.
  • Contributes positively to the environment.
  • Preserves infrastructure integrity while ensuring effective drainage.

Street sweeping begins in April and takes approximately eight to 10 weeks to complete all roads and bike lanes. After the initial cleaning, street sweeping continues throughout the summer and continues until the end of our Loose Leaf Collection program.

Our Roads and Works Department operates three full-time sweepers on two shifts:

  • Day shift: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Afternoon shift: 2 to 10:30 p.m.
