Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), municipalities with populations over 10,000 are required to establish an Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC), with at least 50 per cent of members being individuals with disabilities.
Oakville’s AAC meets quarterly on the second Thursday of the month, at 4 p.m. In 2026, the AAC will meet:
- March 12
- June 11
- September 10
- December 10 (This meeting has been delayed to January due to municipal elections.)
The AAC provides advice to Town Council on accessibility initiatives to address requirements under the AODA in promoting accessibility for residents of all abilities.
The committee has representation from various community groups and disability advocates with lived experience. Find more information on joining an advisory committee or board.
